Aradhana Seth wears many hats. She is a production designer, producer, director, photographer and artist.

Her production design credits include The Sky is PinkChuskit, The Sweet Requiem, The Hungry, Angry Indian Goddesses, Vara, West is West, Don, One Night with the King, Admissions, Easy, The Guru, Leela , Everybody says “I’m Fine!”, Karvaan, Earth and Fire. As an Art Director, she has worked on London Has Fallen, The Darjeeling Limited, The Bourne Supremacy and Stiff Upper Lips.

As she is a hoarder of memories she found herself with metal trunks of research, plans, art department breakdowns, scraps of paper with drawings, fabric samples, props, set dressing and endless other materials from the various films that she worked on.

These metal trunks containing materials from the films she worked on, travelled with her as she worked and lived in various parts of the world till they got collected in “The House of Enquiry” in Goa. This personal collection forms the backbone of the physical archive of ‘The Material Memory of Cinema’.

The virtual archive is an idea that has been long in the making and the pandemic has brought it to fruition. She hopes that it will grow with everyone’s contribution.

The website is going live as is A Suitable Boy, a six part series for BBC 1 airs, that she is Producer and Executive Producer on.

She has directed/produced over 18 documentary films including DAM/AGE. A film with Arundhati Roy and A Suitable Boy for BBC’s Omnibus

Yasmin Sethi is an artist, connoisseur of chai, expert saree-wearer, and master puzzler.

In the real world and in her spare time, she is also an production designer and set decorator, having worked on a number of Indian and international productions. These include Axone as production designer and the upcoming Netflix adaptation of Arvind Adiga’s The White Tiger as Art Director and Set Decorator. She has been a part of Gold, The Family Man, Baar Baar Dekho and The Sky is Pink as Set Decorator and on Dil Dhadakne Do, Mango and Shudh Desi Romance as a Set Dresser. Apart from this, she has also contributed her talents to over 100 television commercials.

Yasmin enjoys moulding young minds in the design space, teaching courses on Geometry for Design as visiting faculty at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad. She herself was educated at Central Saint Martins in London, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Product Design.

In the midst of the global pandemic of 2020, Yasmin taught herself how to build websites, a project that gave digital birth to the archive you are browsing at the moment.
